Electronic Filing and Digital Preservation Policy
LEGAL BRIEF, published by Ihsa Institute, is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, authenticity, integrity, and accessibility of its electronic publications. The journal uses the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform to manage, publish, and maintain its scholarly content in digital format.
1. Electronic Filing
All articles published in LEGAL BRIEF are maintained electronically through the journal's OJS platform. The journal's electronic records include published articles, issue information, article metadata, and associated publication files.
The journal aims to maintain the integrity and accessibility of its published content and to ensure that electronic records remain available for scholarly reference and citation.
2. Digital Preservation through LOCKSS and CLOCKSS
LEGAL BRIEF enables the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) options in OJS to support digital preservation through the corresponding publisher manifest mechanisms.
LOCKSS supports distributed preservation by allowing participating libraries to collect and preserve journal content. CLOCKSS provides a separate preservation infrastructure designed to support the long-term availability of scholarly publications.
These mechanisms are intended to reduce the risk of permanent content loss and support continued access to scholarly materials.
Activation of the relevant options in OJS does not, by itself, establish confirmed participation in an external preservation network. Actual participation and preservation status depend on the applicable service requirements and successful inclusion in the relevant network.
3. Digital Object Identifier (DOI)
LEGAL BRIEF uses Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for published articles where assigned and registered through the journal's designated DOI registration agency.
A DOI provides a persistent identifier that helps readers locate, cite, and reference scholarly publications even when their web addresses change. Authors and readers are encouraged to use the registered DOI when citing articles published in the journal.
The DOI supports persistent identification and discovery but does not independently guarantee the preservation of the full text. Digital preservation and DOI registration are complementary elements of the journal's publication infrastructure.
4. Access and Availability
LEGAL BRIEF aims to maintain access to its published articles through the official journal website. Published articles and their bibliographic metadata are retained to support scholarly citation, discovery, and future reference.
The journal will take reasonable measures to maintain the availability of its electronic publications and to address technical issues that may affect access.
5. Corrections and Preservation of the Scholarly Record
The published version of record will not be silently altered or replaced. Any substantive post-publication correction, retraction, or other editorial action will be documented in accordance with the journal's Corrections, Retractions & Expressions of Concern Policy.
Where applicable, the relevant notice will be linked to the original article to preserve transparency and the integrity of the scholarly record.
6. Policy Responsibility
The Editor-in-Chief and publisher are responsible for overseeing the implementation of this policy and maintaining appropriate electronic publication records.
LEGAL BRIEF will review its electronic filing and digital preservation practices periodically to support the long-term accessibility, reliability, and integrity of its published scholarly content.
